《The Biggest Ball Of Twine In Minnesota》歌词

[00:00:05] Well, I had two weeks of vacation time coming
[00:00:07] After working all year down at Big Roy's Eating And Plumbing
[00:00:12] So one night when my family the I were gathered 'round the dinner table
[00:00:16] I said, "Kids, if you could go anywhere in this great big world, now
[00:00:22] Where'd you like to go ta"
[00:00:24] They said, "Dad, we wanna see the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota"
[00:00:30] They picked the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:00:38] So the very next day we loaded up the car
[00:00:40] With potato skins and pickled weiners,
[00:00:43] Crossword puzzles, Spider-Man comics, and mama's home made rhubarb pie
[00:00:48] Pulled out of the driveway and the neighbors, they all waved good-bye
[00:00:53] And so began our three day journey
[00:00:57] We picked up a guy holding a sign that said "twine ball or bust"
[00:01:02] He smelled real bad and he said his name was Bernie
[00:01:07] I put in a Slim Whitman tape, my wife put on a brand new hair net
[00:01:12] Kids were in the back seat jumping up and down,
[00:01:15] yelling "Are we there yet?"
[00:01:17] And all of us were joined together in one common thought
[00:01:21] As we rolled down the long and winding interstate in our '53 DeSoto
[00:01:28] We're gonna see the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:01:33] We're headin' for the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:01:40] Oh, we couldn't wait to get there
[00:01:42] So we drove straight through for three whole days and nights
[00:01:46] Of course, we stopped for more pickled weiners now and then
[00:01:50] The scenery was just so pretty, boy I wish the kids could've seen it
[00:01:55] But you can't see out of the side of the car
[00:01:57] Because the windows are completely covered
[00:02:00] With the decals of all the place where we've already been
[00:02:05] There's Elvis-O-Rama, the Tupperware Museum,
[00:02:07] The Boll Weevil Monument, and Cranberry World,
[00:02:09] The Shuffleboard Hall Of Fame, Poodle Dog Rock,
[00:02:11] And The Mecca of Albino Squirrels
[00:02:14] We've been to ghost towns, theme parks, wax museums,
[00:02:16] And a place where you can drive through the middle of a tree
[00:02:18] We've seen alligator farms and tarantula ranches,
[00:02:21] But there's still one thing we gotta see
[00:02:23] Well, we crossed the state line about 6:39
[00:02:25] And we saw a sign that said "Twine Ball exit -50 miles"
[00:02:29] Oh, the kids were so happy the started singing
[00:02:33] "99 Bottles Of Beer On The Wall"for the 27th time that day
[00:02:38] So, we pulled off the road at the last chance gas station
[00:02:40] Got a few more pickled weiners and a diet chocolate soda
[00:02:44] On our way to see the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:02:49] We're gonna see the biggest ball of tiwne in Minnesota
[00:02:57] Finally, at 7:37 early Wednesday evening as the sun was setting
[00:03:02] in the Minnesota sky
[00:03:07] Out in the distance, on the horizon, it appeared to me like a vision
[00:03:11] before my unbelieving eye
[00:03:13] I parked the car and walked with awe-filled reverence towards that
[00:03:21] glorius huge majestic sphere
[00:03:25] I was just so overwhelmed by its sheer imensity,
[00:03:30] I had to pop myself a beer
[00:03:35] Yes, on these hallowed grounds, open ten to eight on weekdays,
[00:03:40] in a little shrine under a make-shift pagoda,
[00:03:44] There sits the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:03:49] I tell you, it's the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:03:53] Oh, what on earth would make a man decide to do that kind of thing?
[00:04:07] Oh, windin' up twenty-one thousand, one hundred forty pounds of string
[00:04:16] What was he trying to prove, who was he trying to impress
[00:04:21] Why did he build it, how did he do, it was anybody's guess
[00:04:26] Where did he get the twine, what was goin' through his mind
[00:04:30] Did it just seem like a good idea at the time
[00:04:34] Well, we walked up beside it and I warned the kids
[00:04:37] "Now, you better not touch it, those ropes are there for a reason"
[00:04:42] I said, "Maybe if you're good, I'll tie it to the back of our car
[00:04:45] and we can take it home", but I was only teasin'
[00:04:49] Then we went to the gift shop and stood in line
[00:04:52] Bought a souvineer miniature ball of twine, some window decals,
[00:04:55] and anything else they'd sell us
[00:04:59] And we bought a couple post cards, "Greetings from the twine ball,
[00:05:02] wish you were here"
[00:05:02] Won't the folks back home be jealous
[00:05:06] I gave our camera to Bernie and we stood by the ball and we all gathered
[00:05:09] 'round and said, "Cheese"
[00:05:11] The Bernie ran away with my brand new Insti-Matic,
[00:05:13] but at least we got our memories
[00:05:16] Then we all just stared at the ball for a while and my eyes got moist,
[00:05:19] but I said with a smile, "Kids, this here's what America's all about"
[00:05:25] Then I started feelin' kinda gooey inside and I fell on my knees
[00:05:29] and I cried and cried
[00:05:30] And that's when those security guards threw us out
[00:05:34] You know, I bet if we unravelled that sucker,
[00:05:37] It'd roll all the way down to Fargo, North Dakota
[00:05:41] 'Cause it's the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:05:46] I'm talkin' 'bout the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:05:54] Well, we stayed that night at the Twine Ball Inn
[00:05:56] In the morning we were on our way home again
[00:05:59] But we really didn't want to leave, that was perfectly clear
[00:06:03] I said, "Folks, I can tell you're all sad to go"
[00:06:06] Then I winked my eye and I said, "You know, I got a funny kind of feelin'
[00:06:09] we'll be comin' back again next year"
[00:06:13] 'Cause I've been all around this great big world
[00:06:15] And I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather go to
[00:06:20] Than the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:06:24] I said the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:06:29] Minnesota
[00:06:32] Minnesota
[00:06:34] Minnesota
