《The Biggest Ball Of Twine In Minnesota》歌词

[00:06:47] Well, I had two weeks of vacation time coming
[00:06:47] After working all year down at Big Roy's Eating And Plumbing
[00:06:47] So one night when my family the I were gathered 'round the dinner table
[00:06:47] I said, "Kids, if you could go anywhere in this great big world, now
[00:06:47] Where'd you like to go ta"
[00:06:47] They said, "Dad, we wanna see the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota"
[00:06:47] They picked the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:06:47] So the very next day we loaded up the car
[00:06:47] With potato skins and pickled weiners,
[00:06:47] Crossword puzzles, Spider-Man comics, and mama's home made rhubarb pie
[00:06:47] Pulled out of the driveway and the neighbors, they all waved good-bye
[00:06:47] And so began our three day journey
[00:06:47] We picked up a guy holding a sign that said "twine ball or bust"
[00:06:47] He smelled real bad and he said his name was Bernie
[00:06:47] I put in a Slim Whitman tape, my wife put on a brand new hair net
[00:06:47] Kids were in the back seat jumping up and down,
[00:06:47] yelling "Are we there yet?"
[00:06:47] And all of us were joined together in one common thought
[00:06:47] As we rolled down the long and winding interstate in our '53 DeSoto
[00:06:47] We're gonna see the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:06:47] We're headin' for the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:06:47] Oh, we couldn't wait to get there
[00:06:47] So we drove straight through for three whole days and nights
[00:06:47] Of course, we stopped for more pickled weiners now and then
[00:06:47] The scenery was just so pretty, boy I wish the kids could've seen it
[00:06:47] But you can't see out of the side of the car
[00:06:47] Because the windows are completely covered
[00:06:47] With the decals of all the place where we've already been
[00:06:47] There's Elvis-O-Rama, the Tupperware Museum,
[00:06:47] The Boll Weevil Monument, and Cranberry World,
[00:06:47] The Shuffleboard Hall Of Fame, Poodle Dog Rock,
[00:06:47] And The Mecca of Albino Squirrels
[00:06:47] We've been to ghost towns, theme parks, wax museums,
[00:06:47] And a place where you can drive through the middle of a tree
[00:06:47] We've seen alligator farms and tarantula ranches,
[00:06:47] But there's still one thing we gotta see
[00:06:47] Well, we crossed the state line about 6:39
[00:06:47] And we saw a sign that said "Twine Ball exit - 50 miles"
[00:06:47] Oh, the kids were so happy the started singing
[00:06:47] "99 Bottles Of Beer On The Wall" for the 27th time that day
[00:06:47] So, we pulled off the road at the last chance gas station
[00:06:47] Got a few more pickled weiners and a diet chocolate soda
[00:06:47] On our way to see the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:06:47] We're gonna see the biggest ball of tiwne in Minnesota
[00:06:47] Finally, at 7:37 early Wednesday evening as the sun was setting
[00:06:47] in the Minnesota sky
[00:06:47] Out in the distance, on the horizon, it appeared to me like a vision
[00:06:47] before my unbelieving eye
[00:06:47] I parked the car and walked with awe-filled reverence towards that
[00:06:47] glorius huge majestic sphere
[00:06:47] I was just so overwhelmed by its sheer imensity,
[00:06:47] I had to pop myself a beer
[00:06:47] Yes, on these hallowed grounds, open ten to eight on weekdays,
[00:06:47] in a little shrine under a make-shift pagoda,
[00:06:47] There sits the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:06:47] I tell you, it's the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:06:47] Oh, what on earth would make a man decide to do that kind of thing?
[00:06:47] Oh, windin' up twenty-one thousand, one hundred forty pounds of string
[00:06:47] What was he trying to prove, who was he trying to impress
[00:06:47] Why did he build it, how did he do, it was anybody's guess
[00:06:47] Where did he get the twine, what was goin' through his mind
[00:06:47] Did it just seem like a good idea at the time
[00:06:47] Well, we walked up beside it and I warned the kids
[00:06:47] "Now, you better not touch it, those ropes are there for a reason"
[00:06:47] I said, "Maybe if you're good, I'll tie it to the back of our car
[00:06:47] and we can take it home", but I was only teasin'
[00:06:47] Then we went to the gift shop and stood in line
[00:06:47] Bought a souvineer miniature ball of twine, some window decals,
[00:06:47] and anything else they'd sell us
[00:06:47] And we bought a couple post cards, "Greetings from the twine ball,
[00:06:47] wish you were here"
[00:06:47] Won't the folks back home be jealous
[00:06:47] I gave our camera to Bernie and we stood by the ball and we all gathered
[00:06:47] 'round and said, "Cheese"
[00:06:47] The Bernie ran away with my brand new Insti-Matic,
[00:06:47] but at least we got our memories
[00:06:47] Then we all just stared at the ball for a while and my eyes got moist,
[00:06:47] but I said with a smile, "Kids, this here's what America's all about"
[00:06:47] Then I started feelin' kinda gooey inside and I fell on my knees
[00:06:47] and I cried and cried
[00:06:47] And that's when those security guards threw us out
[00:06:47] You know, I bet if we unravelled that sucker,
[00:06:47] It'd roll all the way down to Fargo, North Dakota
[00:06:47] 'Cause it's the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:06:47] I'm talkin' 'bout the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:06:47] Well, we stayed that night at the Twine Ball Inn
[00:06:47] In the morning we were on our way home again
[00:06:47] But we really didn't want to leave, that was perfectly clear
[00:06:47] I said, "Folks, I can tell you're all sad to go"
[00:06:47] Then I winked my eye and I said, "You know, I got a funny kind of feelin'
[00:06:47] we'll be comin' back again next year"
[00:06:47] 'Cause I've been all around this great big world
[00:06:47] And I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather go to
[00:06:47] Than the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:06:47] I said the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota
[00:06:47] Minnesota
[00:06:47] Minnesota
[00:06:47] Minnesota
