[00:01:55] With the sleigh full of toys and St Nicholas too

[00:02:00] And then in a twinkling I heard on the roof

[00:02:04] The prancing and pawing of each little hoof

[00:02:07] As I drew in my head and was turning around

[00:02:12] Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound

[00:02:16] He was dressed all in fur from his head to his foot

[00:02:21] And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot

[00:02:25] A bundle of toys he had flung on his back

[00:02:29] And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack

[00:02:33] His eyes--how they twinkled His dimples how merry

[00:02:40] His cheeks were like roses his nose like a cherry

[00:02:45] His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow

[00:02:49] And the beard on his chin was as white as the snow

[00:02:54] The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth

[00:02:58] And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath

[00:03:02] He had a broad face and a little round belly

[00:03:07] That shook when he laughed like a bowl full of jelly

[00:03:11] He was chubby and plump a right jolly old elf

[00:03:16] And I laughed when I saw him in spite of myself

[00:03:28] He spoke not a word but went straight to his work

[00:03:33] And filled all the stockings then turned with a jerk

[00:03:41] And giving a nod up the chimney he rose

[00:03:45] He sprang to his sleigh to his team gave a whistle

[00:03:50] And away they all flew like the down of a thistle
