Day For Decision

[00:00:00] Johnny Sea

[00:00:00] Miscellaneous

[00:00:00] Day For Decision

[00:00:01] Day for Decision

[00:00:01] Narrative:

[00:00:01] The other day I heard someone say You know America is in real trouble

[00:00:08] It's true

[00:00:09] Old Glory has never fallen so close to the earth

[00:00:14] Our

[00:00:14] Embassies are being stoned

[00:00:16] Our diplomats are often in fear for their

[00:00:18] Lives

[00:00:19] And we're involved in a half dozen nameless winless conflicts

[00:00:23] Spilling American blood on foreign soil

[00:00:27] Our young men are dying for

[00:00:28] Ideals that don't seem to mean too much to Americans anymore

[00:00:34] The truth is America's real trouble doesn't lie in the rice paddies of

[00:00:39] Vietnam in the masses of Red China or in the diabolical intrigues to the

[00:00:44] South of us

[00:00:46] The real trouble lies in the playgrounds of St Louis the

[00:00:49] Hillside mansions of San Francisco and in the slums of Chicago

[00:00:57] A disease

[00:00:57] Which is slowly eating away at the heart of America lives in the small

[00:01:01] Southern towns the fishing villages of New England and in the hot dusty

[00:01:06] Streets of the midwest

[00:01:08] This is the age of the American cynic

[00:01:11] The year of the unbeliever

[00:01:13] The day

[00:01:14] Of doubt

[00:01:15] We've killed all the sacred cows and destroyed all the images

[00:01:20] And there's nothing left to respect

[00:01:23] Old fashioned love of God country

[00:01:25] And family is passe

[00:01:29] We stare at our shoelaces when they play the national

[00:01:32] Anthem

[00:01:33] We wouldn't want to be seen at a political rally or a town hall

[00:01:36] Meeting

[00:01:37] And we don't want to be caught with our eyes closed during public

[00:01:41] Prayers

[00:01:42] We've decided the only way to get into public office is to buy

[00:01:46] It

[00:01:48] Our heroes are the fast guys who get away with things

[00:01:52] Patriotism the

[00:01:54] Old hand over the heart flag waving singing patriotism has been

[00:01:59] Condemned

[00:02:03] Think about this

[00:02:06] Patriotism

[00:02:07] When you tear away the fancy

[00:02:08] Phrases and crepe paper it's plain and simple pride

[00:02:13] It's a new

[00:02:14] Car prettier girl bigger house sort of pride in country

[00:02:19] Somewhere along

[00:02:19] The way we've lost it

[00:02:22] Our form of government is the same

[00:02:25] We still say

[00:02:25] America stands for the same things

[00:02:28] But next time you're at a party ask

[00:02:31] Someone to sing American the Beautiful and see what happens

[00:02:37] The basic ideals and structure of America haven't changed

[00:02:41] We have

[00:02:43] You

[00:02:44] And me

[00:02:49] Our enemies know it

[00:02:51] They've seen the newsreels of the

[00:02:52] Discontented marching around the capitol

[00:02:55] They've distorted and blown up

[00:02:57] Our mistakes

[00:02:59] They've been putting steel wedges in the cracks in our wall

[00:03:01] Of solidarity

[00:03:04] The new idea is:Don't attack America wear it down

[00:03:08] Gradually it'll eventually fall under the weight of its own corruption

[00:03:15] And did you know it's working

[00:03:22] This sneering complacency once stamped out by the bloody feet of a

[00:03:26] Tattered Continental Army in 1776 once drowned beneath the keel of the

[00:03:32] U S S Arizona in Pearl Harbor Bay has risen again

[00:03:37] This deadly Let

[00:03:38] George do it attitude lights the way for the Viet Cong in the swampy

[00:03:42] Jungles of Vietnam

[00:03:44] This Better red than dead cancer is more feared by

[00:03:47] The American soldier than all the communist mortar shells

[00:03:50] It kills the

[00:03:51] Vitality and spirit of America

[00:03:54] Democracy is a frail and fragile

[00:03:56] Instrument

[00:03:57] Made of hope prayer and Yankee ingenuity

[00:04:00] It is held

[00:04:01] Together by a fourth of July flag waving patriotism

[00:04:05] And we've almost

[00:04:06] Exhausted our supply of it

[00:04:09] Try this test

[00:04:10] Lift your eyes to a flag then

[00:04:13] Sing out as loud as you can that old out worn antiquated freedom hymn you

[00:04:18] Learned so many years ago:

[00:04:22] For purple mountain majesties

[00:04:28] For purple mountain majesties

[00:04:29] Above the fruited plain

[00:04:30] Above the fruited plain

[00:04:35] America

[00:04:37] America

[00:04:38] America

[00:04:39] America

[00:04:42] God shed His grace on thee

[00:04:44] God shed His grace on thee

[00:04:48] Now if you feel a little pride welling up inside of you if you feel a

[00:04:54] Little mist in your eye then thank God for you mister you're still an

[00:05:01] American

[00:05:03] America America

[00:05:04] God shed His grace on thee

[00:05:04] And crown thy good with brotherhood

[00:05:10] From sea to shining sea
