《Unpack Your Adjectives》歌词

[00:00:00] Unpack Your Adjectives - Blossom Dearie (布洛森·迪儿莉)
[00:00:09] Got home from camping last spring
[00:00:13] Saw people places and things
[00:00:18] We barely had arrived
[00:00:20] Friends asked us to describe
[00:00:22] The people places and every last thing
[00:00:27] So we unpacked our adjectives
[00:00:33] I unpacked frustrating first
[00:00:38] Reached in and found the word worst
[00:00:42] Then I picked soggy and
[00:00:44] Next I picked foggy and
[00:00:46] Then I was ready to tell them my tale
[00:00:52] 'Cause I'd unpacked my adjectives
[00:00:57] Adjectives are words you use to really describe things
[00:01:01] Handy words to carry around
[00:01:05] Days are sunny or they're rainy
[00:01:07] Boys are dumb or else they're brainy
[00:01:10] Adjectives can show you which way
[00:01:14] Adjectives are often used to help us compare things
[00:01:18] To say how thin how fat how short how tall
[00:01:22] Girls who are tall can get taller
[00:01:24] Boys who are small can get smaller
[00:01:26] Till one is the tallest
[00:01:27] And the other's the smallest of all
[00:01:31] We hiked along without care
[00:01:35] Then we ran into a bear
[00:01:39] He was a hairy bear
[00:01:41] He was a scary bear
[00:01:43] We beat a hasty retreat from his lair
[00:01:49] And described him with adjectives
[00:01:52] Woah
[00:01:53] Boy that was one big ugly bear
[00:01:58] You can make even adjectives out of the other parts
[00:02:01] Of speech like verbs and nouns
[00:02:03] All you have to do is tack on an ending
[00:02:06] Like -ic or -ish or -ary
[00:02:08] For example
[00:02:09] This boy can grow up to be a huge man
[00:02:12] But still have a boyish face
[00:02:15] Boy is a noun but the ending -ish
[00:02:17] Makes it an adjective boyish
[00:02:19] That describes the huge man's face
[00:02:22] Get it
[00:02:24] Next time you go on a trip
[00:02:29] Remember this little tip
[00:02:33] The minute you get back
[00:02:35] They'll ask you this and that
[00:02:37] You can describe people places and things
[00:02:42] Simply unpack your adjectives
[00:02:46] You can do it with adjectives
[00:02:50] Tell them 'bout it with adjectives
[00:02:55] You can shout it with adjectives
