[00:00:54] Hi This evening I'll be reading from a book

[00:01:01] I just finished and since a lot of it is about the future

[00:01:07] I'm going to start more or less on the last page

[00:01:13] And tell you about my grandmother

[00:01:19] Now she was a Southern Baptist Holy Ruler

[00:01:22] And she had a very clear idea about the future

[00:01:28] And of how the world would end

[00:01:32] In fire

[00:01:33] In fire

[00:01:36] Like in Revelations

[00:01:38] Like in Revelations

[00:01:42] And when I was ten my grandmother told me

[00:01:46] The world would end in a year

[00:01:49] So I spent the whole year praying and reading the Bible

[00:01:54] And alienating all my friends and relatives

[00:01:59] And finally the big day came

[00:02:04] And absolutely nothing happened Just another day

[00:02:16] Ooooaaaah

[00:02:21] Now my grandmother was a missionary

[00:02:24] And she had heard that the largest religion in the world was Buddhism

[00:02:30] So she decided to go to Japan to convert Buddhists

[00:02:35] And to inform them about the end of the world

[00:02:38] And to inform them about the end of the world

[00:02:44] And she didn't speak Japanese

[00:02:47] So she tried to convert them with a combination of

[00:02:49] Hand gestures sign language and hymns in English

[00:02:59] Ooooaaaah

[00:03:06] The Japanese had absolutely no idea what she was trying to get at

[00:03:14] And when she got back to the United States

[00:03:17] She was still talking about the end of the world

[00:03:21] And I remember the day she died

[00:03:24] She was very excited

[00:03:27] She was like a small bird perched on the edge of her bed

[00:03:31] Near the window in the hospital

[00:03:33] Waiting to die

[00:03:36] And she was wearing these pink nightgowns

[00:03:40] And combing her hair so she'd look pretty for the big moment

[00:03:45] When Christ came to get her

[00:03:50] Ooooaaaah

[00:03:53] And she wasn't afraid but then

[00:03:57] Just at the very last minute something happened that changed everything

[00:04:05] Because suddenly at the very last minute she panicked

[00:04:13] After a whole life of praying and predicting the end of the world she panicked

[00:04:22] And she panicked because she couldn't decide whether or not to wear a hat

[00:04:36] Ooooaaaah

[00:04:42] And so when she died she went into the future in a panic

[00:04:52] With absolutely no idea of what would be next
