[00:01:08] So they planned to build a bridge

[00:01:21] Well first niagara and then St Antony's

[00:01:25] Were discovered by the fella with the Hennepin name

[00:01:29] But when the lock was filled on the lower falls

[00:01:34] Everyone was shoppin' on the Nicollet mall

[00:01:40] And when the rope was cut on the Hennepin

[00:01:45] Father Louis had a most unusual plan

[00:01:49] He would take a dip in the Mississippi

[00:01:53] He would dive from the centre and swim to the dam

[00:02:13] When the time had come and he took the plunge

[00:02:18] Everybody screamed my god what has he done

[00:02:21] And though he tried to swim the current carried him

[00:02:26] Closer and closer to the brink of the falls

[00:02:32] The people lined the banks of the Mississippi

[00:02:37] To watch father Hennepin go over the edge

[00:02:41] The people there that day they all swear they say

[00:02:45] Father Hennepin was laughin' as he fell to his death
