[00:00:42] At eleven forty two with the signal overdue

[00:00:52] I'd been busy in the luggage van

[00:00:57] Then he gave one flash of his glass green eyes

[00:01:40] He establishes control by a regular patrol

[00:01:43] And he'd know at once if anything occurred

[00:01:46] He would watch you without winking

[00:01:48] And he saw what you were thinking

[00:01:50] And it's certain that he didn't approve

[00:01:53] Of hilarity and riot so the folk were very quiet

[00:01:56] When Skimble was about and on the move

[00:02:05] He's a cat that cannot be ignored

[00:02:08] So nothing went wrong on the northern mail

[00:02:11] When Skimbleshanks was aboard

[00:02:17] It was very pleasant when they'd found their little den

[00:02:20] With their name written up on the door

[00:02:23] And the berth was very neat with a newly folded sheet

[00:02:27] And not a speck of dust upon the floor

[00:02:30] There was every sort of light

[00:02:31] You could make it dark or bright

[00:02:33] And a button you could turn to make a breeze

[00:02:36] And a funny little basin you're supposed to wash your face in

[00:02:40] And a crank to shut the window should you sneeze

[00:02:43] Then the guard looked in politely

[00:02:45] And would ask you very brightly

[00:02:47] Do you like your morning tea weak or strong

[00:02:50] But I was just behind him and was ready to remind him

[00:02:53] For Skimble won't let anything go wrong

[00:02:58] When they crept into their cosy berth

[00:03:01] And pulled up the counterpane

[00:03:05] They all could reflect that it was very nice

[00:03:08] To know that they wouldn't be bothered by mice

[00:03:11] They can leave all that to the railway cat

[00:03:42] They were fast asleep at Crewe and so they never knew

[00:03:48] They were sleeping all the while I was busy at Carlisle
