[00:00:03] Body Count is a band I put together

[00:00:05] Just to let one of my best friends Ernie C play his guitar

[00:00:09] He's always been playing guitar

[00:00:10] We all went to Crenshaw High School together in South Central Los Angeles

[00:00:14] And I had the idea of let's make a metal band

[00:00:16] Let's make rock band

[00:00:18] Because I had been to Europe

[00:00:19] And I noticed that the kids would mosh off of hip-hop

[00:00:23] So we put the band together and I used the three bands

[00:00:26] That were my favourites at the time to set the tone

[00:00:30] We used the impending doom of a group like Black Sabbath

[00:00:33] Who pretty much invented metal

[00:00:36] The punk sensibility of somebody like Suicidal

[00:00:39] Who basically put that gangbanger style from

[00:00:42] Venice California into the game

[00:00:44] And the speed and the precision of Slayer

[00:00:48] One of my favourite groups and always will be

[00:01:39] Trapped in purgatory

[00:01:41] A lifeless object alive

[00:01:44] Awaiting reprisal
